mind dump

These things are in random order and come from the experiences of the last several weeks.

… when the day seems flat, keep being faithful, and something will happen like the 2 young boys who accepted Jesus Sunday morning and the 5 others who accepted Jesus at the worship services led by Raceway Ministries.

… what I am not responsible for I need to pray for and keep my distance so those responsible can do their best.

… sometimes the most important thing I can do is pray.

… time flies by so fast that you almost cannot remember some of the days you just passed by.

… the guy leading most of the race will likely not win.

… the people who seem the most insignificant are often the most influential for you and others.

… staying on schedule is not as important as simply pressing forward.

… remember that God’s view of a situation is far different from our point of view, and He has a plan that will blow our minds.

… the smallest things will trigger thoughts that we didn’t know are close to our hearts.  I have found this be true and difficult since my mom’s death 3 weeks ago.  The tears don’t stop.

… people are moved big time by a personally written note or letter.

… that one worship song that keeps going through your mind and on the radio when you get in the car is the one that you should remember to sing to God as often as it comes to mind, and more.

… being alone is often important, but the people around us are super important and must be valued.

… the Bible continues and has always given the answers that are needed in life.

… peace is a gift from God that is to be cherished and sought after each day by being honest and ready for answers as well as to take action, but peace doesn’t come by side stepping important situations and people.

… balance is very important.

… knee jerk reactions will hurt your knees.  Plus the results are not what you are really looking for.

… people really are the most important asset we have.

… God will provide in His time.  Watch how He answers and how He shows up.

… often we are our worst critics, and it is needed to move past what seems to devalue your life and allow God and others to add value to your life.

… it doesn’t take a lot of energy to wash dishes, wash clothes or even to wash the car.

… checking the air pressure in your tires is important, and the weather affects that pressure.

… being a fixer who always wants to fix things I have to learn that there are some things that I just cannot fix.

… my kids are phenomenal and will at some point see the amazing things God has created that I want them to see.

That is enough even though that is not everything that is on my mind.  There are excellent things ahead, destined by God to cross my path and to influence my life and family.  Life is intended to be enjoyed and not loathed.  Pressure will push us to peace or stress, but the choice is ours.

Psalm 130:5-8  NLT
I am counting on the Lord; yes, I am counting on him.  I have put my hope in his word.  I long for the Lord more than sentries long for the dawn, yes, more than sentries long for the dawn.  O Israel, hope in the Lord; for with the Lord there is unfailing love.  His redemption overflows.  He himself will redeem Israel from every kind of sin.

PS --- make sure you VOTE today if there are elections in your area.

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...
