what's on my mind?

When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future.

On Mondays in the past I have shared what I called a “Monday morning mind dump” where I share some of the things going through my life and mind.  I pray something will hit home with you in what is shared.

But I want to start with just a little over flow from the sermon I preached yesterday at The Community Fellowship.  I believe with all my heart that often we put off talking about the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, because we don’t understand or we have been taught poorly in the past.  That may or may not be true about you.

The verse I began with simple says when God sent His Spirit that He would give us and guide us in to true as well as reveal the future.  It is a fact that when the Spirit is in our lives and we are following Him that there is often more power and peace from God in our lives.  That is something I desperately need as you do.

How much my life and yours is changed when we allow the Spirit of God to be an important part of our lives.  This Spirit is literally God.  This God desires to be part of our lives and to bless us.

When we allow our enemy, Satan, to distract us, we will miss some of the greatest blessings that god has for us.  The overflow of following the Spirit is seen in the love of God in our lives, the fruit of Spirit in our lives and the gifts of the Spirit are being used.

Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.

I want to point you to Pastor Robert Morris as a message he shared on the Holy Spirit greatly influenced what I shared and gave me lots to study.

Now on to the mind dump portion of today’s post.  Seems to me that winter has come to a screeching halt and spring has sprung.  There is so much to praise God for and the future is bright.  Here are some things running through my mind:

-- I am grateful for all the people that helped with our Winter Warming Shelter this year.  Many people were helped and many people served.  What a blessing!
-- Our middle child is working hard on getting in to college, and now we all wait to hear what colleges and universities she will be accepted by.  This is exciting!
-- Easter is less than 2 weeks away, and I cannot wait to see what God does in many lives.
-- Each week I get to meet with a small group of men and share a Bible study.  It is amazing to not how the enemy is so unhappy when people, especially these men, choose to unapologetically follow Jesus.
-- With spring around, summer is getting closer, and our family is excited about it.  Lots of great days ahead, but many of those days are unknown yet.  Another reason to let God lead each of us.
-- We are praying for several things.  Some are doors we are asking God to open.
-- Praise God that we have almost reached our goal of $25,000 that we began just before the beginning of 2016.  God is so good.
-- Finally, pray for those who will attend Damian Ferrell’s funeral as I have the opportunity to share the Gospel with them today.  I take this seriously and ask God to speak to many who need His grace and those who need to be Saved.

Have a great day, and thank you for allowing me to share these posts with you each week day.  I pray our lives will point many to Jesus!

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
