it's time to serve (Saturday is big)

Hello Community Family and Friends ---

This is a great time to be part of The Community Fellowship.  Sunday will be the completion of our STAY POSITIVE series, and you don't want to miss it.  We will discuss the strength of being confident in God.  Make sure to be at church and bring a guest with you!

Saturday is our annual FREE Car Care Clinic for ladies, and there are still a few spots open for ladies to register.  Simply call the church (276-647-8231) and share information about your car to get an appointment.  VOLUNTEERS are needed to help with this event.  Please contact Kasim Adams or Pastor Michael to help.

Saturday is also our monthly FREE Clothes Closet and Meal from 9am until noon.  Volunteers are needed to help, and we have lots of clothes to share as well as a few surprises for those who join us.  Help pass the word about this event.

Each and every Saturday we serve a FREE meal at the Martinsville Hotel at 5pm, and we are in need of some people to cook and to serve in the weeks ahead.  There are several teams working in this ministry, but there are some spots that you could help with.  Contact Sandy or Brian Weaver to be part of this great ministry.

Saturday from 5 to 8pm is also our next CRUISE IN at The Community.  This is a fun time to look at cool cars and maybe even win a door prize.  There will be a message and more.  See Ricky Foster for more details, and we hope to see you there.

Remember that it is our goal to demonstrate the love of God to our community and beyond by meeting needs and sharing Jesus.  Spend some time today sharing God's love with others, and I look forward to seeing you this coming weekend!

With GOD as my guide,

Pastor Michael

PS --- we have scheduled our first mission team to work on our new campus.  The dates are June 8 thru 12, and your help is needed to make this week a huge success.  Also there is still space for men to join our mission trip to Arkansas the last week of May.

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...
