partners needed

How wonderful and pleasant it is when brothers live together in harmony!

Partners are always sought after in the work we are doing through The Community Fellowship.  Our desire is to point people toward Jesus.  It is not about building our church, but it is about building the big “C” church or the kingdom of God.  When we partner with others, this becomes a reality.

By choosing to partner with other people we make a loud statement to the people we live around.  Most people think that Christians and churches fight or are in competition, and in reality we have all experienced this.  Competition could not be further from what God commanded His children to be about.  We are to work together to make the world stronger all the while sharing Jesus with everyone we meet.

If the goal is to fill one church or to make one organization bigger or better than others, then we fail.  We all fail.  When the goal is to make our community stronger as a whole, we all win, and God gets the glory.

That is why seeking partnerships is so very important.  We have chosen to partner with some incredible people and organizations.  Many churches have become our partners in outreach or in serving.  Many organizations have linked up in partnership to help us and them get stronger.

There's no limit to the good you can do when you don't care who gets the credit -- Ronald Reagan

We will partner with almost anyone, but please understand that there is a reason to be a partner with others.  It is to make each partner stronger and to give glory to God.  Not every organization is Christian, but there are great organizations that aren’t distinctly Christian yet do great things in our community.  God can and will use everything for His good.

Stretch yourself and those around you.  Don’t neglect or delude your faith.  Stand on what you believe and on what God says is truth, and partner with others who you can help accomplish their goals and make you stronger

The fact is partnerships make me, our church and others much stronger.  Partnerships bring glory to God as we work together and not worry about who gets the credit.

The one who plants and the one who waters work together with the same purpose. And both will be rewarded for their own hard work.

NOTE: we really are looking for partners to serve with.  A couple areas we need more partners is in our weekly feeding ministry and the back2school outreach.  Let me know via email (mharrison@thecommunityfellowship.org) if you or your church/organization would like to discuss partnership.

Catalyst ticket arrived

My ticket to the Catalyst Conference, in Atlanta Oct 8-10, just arrived. I'm excited!

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
