In light of the shooting this past Sunday morning in
the nightclub in Orlando I have turned back to read some things I shared years
ago. The following was shared in the
spring of 2014 and remains true as “food for thought”. My prayer is daily
that God will call out the potential in my life and out of the people around
me.
These will come from many different directions, go
off in many directions and leave us wanting more. Read and pray… have a
great weekend.
Charles Stanley --- We can
be tired, weary and emotionally distraught, but after spending time alone with
God, we find that He injects into our bodies energy, power and strength.
Charles Spurgeon --- I
would go to the deeps a hundred times to cheer a downcast spirit. It is good
for me to have been afflicted, that I might know how to speak a word in season
to one that is weary.
Johnny Hunt
--- Nobody changes until the pain of staying the same is greater than the
pain of change.
Joyce Meyer --- Forgiveness
is not a feeling - it's a decision we make because we want to do what's right
before God. It's a quality decision that won't be easy and it may take time to
get through the process, depending on the severity of the offense.
Kay Arthur --- God is
in control, and therefore in EVERYTHING I can give thanks - not because of the
situation but because of the One who directs and rules over it.
George Washington --- Be
courteous to all, but intimate with few, and let those few be well tried before
you give them your confidence.
George Muller --- The
beginning of anxiety is the end of faith, and the beginning of true faith is
the end of anxiety.
Joel A. Barker --- Vision
without action is merely a dream. Action without vision just passes the time.
Vision with action can change the world.
Martin Luther King, Jr. --- Darkness
cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate;
only love can do that.
Max Lucado --- When
grace happens, we receive not a nice compliment from God but a new heart. Give
your heart to Christ, and he returns the favor.
Joni Eareckson Tada --- God is
truly on the side of those who work for social justice, especially when we
accompany that work with the giving of the Gospel!
Billy Graham --- Courage
is contagious. When a brave man takes a stand, the spines of others are often
stiffened.
Brian Houston
--- A blessed life is one that understands that when God saves you, He has
others in mind. I believe every Christian needs to know that they are not only
saved, but are also called to live a life of purpose.”
1 John 4:17 NLT --- And
as we live in God, our love grows more perfect. So we will not be afraid on the
day of judgment, but we can face him with confidence because we live like Jesus
here in this world.
