If you are kind, people may accuse you of
selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some
unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies. Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and sincere people may
deceive you. Be honest and sincere anyway.
What you spend years creating, others could
destroy overnight. Create anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, some may
be jealous. Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, will often be
forgotten. Do good anyway.
Give the best you have, and it will never be
enough. Give your best anyway.
In the final analysis, it is between you and
God. It was never between you and them anyway.
That was found on
the wall of Mother Teresa’s home in Calcutta.
If you know who she was, you know her commitment to serve the poor and
to stand up where most people run from.
That is another reason we must do something.
In the face of pain,
keep on. When it brings stress, push
through. Let others see how God deals
with people, the people, all people, that He loves. There is more to our action and ministry that
just doing good things. Our actions and
choices has consequences, bad and good.
I look back on the
happenings of this past weekend’s back2school outreach and remember many smiles
and even a few frowns. It is easy to
allow the feelings of those around us to capture attitudes and change our
choices.
The most important
thing we can do is to “do the most good” which is not easy. These kids and their families need what we
are offering. There will be more opportunities. It is not about how many students we
served. It is about opening doors to
serve. Because we are blessed we have to
bless others.
Mother Teresa
understood her place. She knew what God
called her to do, and she pushed through the pain and made a difference in
many, many lives. We must do the same!
From his abundance
we have all received one
gracious blessing after another.
