take God at His word

Take His word seriously.  He teaches us about His character.  God gives us direction and correction.  Let that sink in.

James 3:17  NASB
But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy.

I am more than bothered by this election season as it seems that integrity has been thrown out with the trash.  We excuse so much.  Please understand that I am not thumbing my nose at grace or giving people second chances.

God’s wisdom is pure, and God guides us, His people to be as He is, to think as He thinks and to act as God acts.  Trust God.  It really is that simple.

Matthew 6:31  NIV
So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’

Why worry about things outside of our control?  Instead pray about it all.  Just like Philippians 4:6-7 says (and I shared that last night).  Choose prayer over worry all the while praying for others.

With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints,

Prayer is something that ought to be part of our every day lives. Prayer literally links us being thankful.

Psalm 50:14  NASB
Make thankfulness your sacrifice to God, and keep the vows you made to the Most High.

Make thanksgiving part of your every day life, just like prayer.  This verse from God says that thanksgiving is like a sacrifice to God.  Remember that sacrifices are given as an act of worship.  I find rest and refreshing in prayer, from Scripture and in giving thanks.

2 Thessalonians 2:13  NASB
But we should always give thanks to God for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God has chosen you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth.

Yes, God has chosen you.  You and I belong to God.

Are we taking God at His word?  As you read this final verse I challenge you to take in all that God shares with you.  It might change the way we think, act, talk and may change the people we encounter.

1 Peter 2:9  NASB
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
