Christmas countdown: wise men

They did have 3 gifts.  They did encounter problems with a political leader.  They did find Jesus, the Messiah, and worship Him.  Their visit lives on to teach us more about our Savior and about that first Christmas.

The wise men saw a light that led them to search for Jesus.  We have been given or shown many lights that lead us to Jesus, and it is possible for us to reflect that same light so that others come to know our great and gracious God.

Matthew 5:14  NASB
You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden;

Though the wise men followed the light they were also the light.  They spoke of what they expected because what they had been taught for years.

John 8:12  NLT
Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.”

Christmas is a time to spread light. There is joy and peace coming from our celebration as well as from the kindness we are able to shower on others that gives light.  Darkness is overtaken by light, and we so need real light in our world today.

In the baby of Christmas and the Christ of the cross is the light that gives us life.  Lets live strong and full of light.  That way our lives are stronger and others come to know Him.

John 1:4  NASB
In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men.

Like the wise men we can follow the light of Christ and help others follow too.
