Christmas questions

Luke 2:19 NLT
but Mary kept all these things in her heart and thought about them often.

I thought we would take a bit different turn as we are at the end of the week and as Christmas is only one week away.  This might help you get to know me a little better, but I really want it to point you toward what really matters all the time, not just at Christmas.

Here are just a few questions to think though (feel free to post this with your own answers)

Wrapping paper or gift bags? Wrapping Paper… I love those cool presents with lots and lots of tape

Real tree or artificial? Artificial … but use something to put a Christmas smell around the house

When do you put up the tree? When Julie says it is time and typically around thanksgiving

Do you like eggnog? No, never, nit

Favorite person in the Christmas story?  Zechariah and his response to God

Favorite gift received as a child?  Drums maybe

Favorite Christmas Movie? it is a three way tie: Elf, Home Alone and It’s a Wonderful Life

Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? Yes

Favorite Christmas song? O Holy Night

Angel on the tree top or a star? Whatever Julie wants, but my parents always had the same angel (sweet memories)

Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning? Christmas morning only

Favorite Christmas memory?  My church used to have a living nativity, and it was always fun to share the Christmas story with thousands of people with hundreds of people helping

Gingerbread or sugar cookies? Sugar Cookies but almost anything cinnamon or donuts

Do you like Fruitcake? NO, never, nit

Reason you enjoy Christmas?  Jesus celebration because He gives us abundant life

Take some time to share your Christmas with others.  Maybe go out of your way to serve someone, and I would suggest that you give to or serve a person that cannot give you anything in return.

This is the season to be selfless and to give.  Let others see Jesus in and through your life!

Matthew 1:21  NLT
And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.

END OF THE YEAR GIFT: This Christmas and at the end of year would you give a gift to The Community Fellowship as we serve those who are hungry, hurting or homeless in the name of Jesus?  All gifts are tax deductible.  Mail yours to PO Box 388, Collinsville, VA 24078 and mark it one of these: general fund, Dream Center (homeless and feeding ministry), Vision fund (completion of new campus) or please give online at https://tcf.ccbchurch.com/w_give_online.php

Catalyst ticket arrived

My ticket to the Catalyst Conference, in Atlanta Oct 8-10, just arrived. I'm excited!

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
