light of Christmas

I am reminded often that people are more open to hearing or seeing the Gospel around them at this time of year.  Take the opportunities.  Talk about what comes natural.  Walk through when people open the doors.  Invite people to church.  Jesus still changes lives. Right?

What do we know about Jesus?

Isaiah 9:6  NLT
For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

That is a lot of light.  A child brings light to families.  Government I am not sure about.  Counselors give light.  God is light.  Peace brings ability to see and sheds more light.

The lights of the Christmas season remind us of the joy and the enjoyment of the season.  What are we going to do with this light, the real light who is Jesus?

Matthew 5:16  NASB
Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

Our choice to pass on the light!  Will we?  It begins with a person choice.  Not just what we do.  It is what we are.

1 Peter 2:9  NASB
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nationa people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;

Matthew 5:14  NASB
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden;

Too often we dwell on darkness.  Realize that the more you let darkness in or deal with darkness, the more darkness you will have in your life.  The opposite is true as well.  Realize the more you let light in your life and deal with light, the more light you will have in your life and share with others.

John 8:12  NLT
Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.”

Choose light.  Enjoy the season.  Let the real light, let Jesus shine through you!

for you were formerly darkness, but now you are Light in the Lord; walk as children of Light
