spread Christmas truth this season

Matthew 1:21-23  NASB
She will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.” 22 Now all this took place to fulfill what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet: 23 “Behold, the virgin shall be with child and shall bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which translated means, “God with us.”

Henri Nouwen wrote, “Allow God to do something through you today.  It might be an act of charity for someone in need, a visit to someone who is lonely. Or it might be a willingness to forgive an injury or to accept forgiveness. It might even be something God wants you to do for yourself, like accept the rest God is offering to you.”

To celebrate best we must personally embrace the truth of Christmas.  I love the lights and music and festive stuff going on, but what really makes Christmas special for me is when our family holds tight to the celebration of Jesus together.

An old but popular song says, “the best way to spread Christmas cheer is to sing loud for all to hear.”  The sentiment is to give others the truth of Christmas or to get others to worship Christ the best way is to be an example.  Love someone.  Serve someone.  Smile often.  Be tuned in to the Spirit and do what you are led to do.  It WILL make a difference.

May our Christmas celebration, our celebration of the Savior of the world, be contagious.  I pray others see and grab on to Jesus through you and me this season!
