more of God's wisdom


I want to spend a few minutes to walk through some important thoughts on good thinking.  Sounds like an oxymoron for sure.  Good thinking can be defined in many ways.  It actually depends on what you think is good or where you think good comes from.

Most of us reading this have a relationship with God and believe that Christianity is vital to our lives.  Walk through these words about wisdom and wise thinking.

James 3:13–18 NLT
If you are wise and understand God’s ways, prove it by living an honorable life, doing good works with the humility that comes from wisdom. 14 But if you are bitterly jealous and there is selfish ambition in your heart, don’t cover up the truth with boasting and lying. 15 For jealousy and selfishness are not God’s kind of wisdom. Such things are earthly, unspiritual, and demonic. 16 For wherever there is jealousy and selfish ambition, there you will find disorder and evil of every kind. 17 But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and the fruit of good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere. 18 And those who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and reap a harvest of righteousness.

God’s wisdom provides for good living and an honorable life.  God’s wisdom differentiates between human reason and godly thinking.  Real wisdom, in my opinion, is what God gives (as verse 17 says) being pure, peace loving and gentle.

Step a little further into the fact that peace comes from God’s wisdom.  Love this from verse 18… peace makers plants seeds of peace and harvest righteousness.  I want more of that!

James 1:5  NLT
If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.

That is my life verse.  We need more of God’s wisdom!

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. wash feet, sharing hope

  John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
