Don't Forget ... and some important things to know

Hello Community Family -

I trust you are well and that you are seeing many of God's blessings each day.  Continue to demonstrate the love of God to our community every chance you get, and I hope to see you Sunday as we continue our HIS story, YOUR story series.

Here are a few things I want to remind you of:

TIME CHANGE IS THIS WEEKEND.  Don't forget to turn your clocks back 1 hour before you go to bed Saturday night so you won't be late for church on Sunday.

THIS WEEK IS OUR 2ND SATURDAY OUTREACH.  Our FREE meal and Clothing Closet is from 9am until noon this Saturday, March 11th.  Volunteers please arrive by 8:30.  We will need your help!

WINTER / WARMING CENTER IS STILL OPEN.  The center will be open beginning Friday night and through the next several days, and volunteers are needed.  If you have helped before, please contact Tracie Correa, or if you would like to help, contact Pastor Michael at pastormh@gmail.com

RACEWAY MINISTRY TEAM TRAINING.  Next Thursday, March 16th, at 6:30pm at Martinsville Speedway is our annual training at the speedway and all volunteers are encouraged to be there.  We will need all team members for the upcoming race weekend, March 31 thru April 2.

FUNDRAISERS FOR AMANDA ELGIN MISSION TRIP.  This Saturday and next Saturday evenings at church there will be fundraisers for Amanda's next mission trip.  This week is a paint party and next week is 31 Bingo.  Contact Amanda or Yvonne for details.

STICKIN' IT TO THE PASTOR.  Here is how this fundraiser goes and is raising money for our youth.  $5 buys 3 feet of duct tape, and on Sunday, March 26th, I will be duct taped to a wall and preach from there.  You got to see this.  You can give online or at church.  See Adrienne Hubbard for details.

Let's move a little forward with some more notes to know:

EASTER IS COMING.  We will have our Easter worship service on Sunday, April 16 at normal time.  Get the word out.  Invite family and friends.  On Saturday, April 15th, there will be a special event at our new campus for kids and families.  Watch for more details in the coming weeks.

FAITH IN ACTION.  The last Sunday in April, April 30th, we will be partnering with Rich Acers Christian Church to serve our community in more than 10 mission projects.  See Kasim Adams for more details.  We will not have our regular worship service that day.  More details will be shared soon.

NEW CAMPUS RENOVATIONS.  Continue to pray for our new campus and it's completion.  Mission teams and recourses are being sought after.  Pray that all of this comes together!

That is all for now.  Have a great day, and may God bless you and bless others through you in big ways.  See you this weekend!

With GOD as my guide,

Pastor Michael Harrison

Catalyst ticket arrived

My ticket to the Catalyst Conference, in Atlanta Oct 8-10, just arrived. I'm excited!

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
