it is time to CHASE THE LION

Today I am sharing with you a post from September of 2016 about a book I am reading and enjoying studying with a group of men at our church.  It is an incredible book.  Read on and I pray you are inspired…

It is a risk.  Living life as normal without adventure or without passion really is risky.  God intends for our lives to count.  We can and must make a difference with our lives on a daily basis planning to do even more.

One of my favorite authors, Mark Batterson, released a new book this week titled Chase the Lion.  It was almost 10 years ago when The Community Fellowship started that Batterson’s book In A Pit With a Lion on a Snowy Day helped shape our passion to fulfill the vision God has given us.

In the first book and again in the promotion of the new book the Lion Chaser’s Manifesto screams what many are thinking.  I am one of those.  This week God continues to whisper, and at times shout, about the direction we are going and the people we are to love in His name.

As you read the manifesto I pray God will prick the places in your heart that long to take the next step or to choose risk.  Read on:

Quit living as if the purpose of life is to arrive safely at death. Set God-sized goals. Pursue God-ordained passions. Go after a dream that is destined to fail without divine intervention. Keep asking questions. Keep making mistakes. Keep seeking God. Stop pointing out problems and become part of the solution. Stop repeating the past and start creating the future. Stop playing it safe and start taking risks. Expand your horizons. Accumulate experiences. Enjoy the journey. Find every excuse you can to celebrate everything you can. Live like today is the first day and last day of your life. Don't let what's wrong with you keep you from worshipping what's right with God. Burn sinful bridges. Blaze a new trail. Criticize by creating. Worry less about what people think and more about what God thinks. Don't try to be who you're not. Be yourself. Laugh at yourself. Quit holding out. Quit holding back. Quit running away.

Let’s chase the lion…

Philippians 2:30  NLT

For he risked his life for the work of Christ, and he was at the point of death while doing for me what you couldn’t do from far away.
