dreams come true

Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; ensure justice for those being crushed.

For well over 7 years we have been planning and pushing for the need of a homeless shelter for men and families in our community.  Our church and many we work with has seen this need first hand as we have served hundreds of people during this time believing we are to demonstrate the love of God to our community by meeting needs and winning the right to share Jesus with those we serve.

That is a big deal, and that is our calling.  Throughout these years there have been many ups and many downs.  We have battled opposition.  We have held up the banner of those in need.  We have met many, many people who have found themselves homeless.

Now the time has come.  This day makes a new beginning.  Our transitional home for men and families who have found themselves homeless opens it’s doors.  This is an answer to prayer.  This is a success story from hard work.  This is a day that dreams come true.

Over the last two years we have used local hotels to serve homeless friends.  It is time to take the next step with opening a home.  We will be able to serve a few men and one family at a time.  This is not easy work, and it is not just about homelessness.  It is about giving people an opportunity to take a break and take a breathe and then make some good choices to get back on their feet.

I am grateful for those who have helped us get to this point.  Our church is grateful.  Our volunteers and staff are excited.  I cannot wait to share stories with you of some of the people we will be blessed to serve.

Will you pray?  Will you give?  Go to https://tcf.ccbchurch.com/goto/giving and choose The Community Dream Center.  Those funds will help homeless friends have a place to stay and be able to find hope.  Will you volunteer?  Let me know if you want to help.

Join me.  Join others.  Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves and serve those who are in difficult places.  You might save a life.  We might lead someone to Jesus.  That is a dream come true!

Yes, you will be enriched in every way so that you can always be generous. And when we take your gifts to those who need them, they will thank God.

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
