I believe that that people follow the lead of
others. If I am live a generous life,
the people around me will be generous.
God calls all of us to give, to tithe and to share with others.
The following is a devotion I shared in February of 2009,
and I believe it is something we need to read again:
Don't you just love it when your thoughts for the day are
doubled or even tripled by other stuff that comes your way? Well, today
is just one of those days. The thoughts that I continue to have about our
giving and helping those going through a very difficult time end with God
renewing my vision and giving me conversations with people who have much
passion to see God work in lives.
Then I read this:
"Lifechurch wasn't as generous as they needed to be,
so Craig, as a leader, began to be generous." --- Craig
Groeschel www.life.church
Did you get that? When Craig wanted a change in his
church, he made the change in himself. That speaks volumes to me and
convicts me that I have to keep on the path that I have chosen. I am only
as good of a leader as I choose to follow Jesus. That means I can say 'do
as I do' rather just 'do as I say'.
Our actions speak volumes. Are we generous
givers? I pray God gives me the ability to give more and the leadership
ability to lead others to give more of themselves. That is huge!
Proverbs 11:25 nlt
The generous will prosper; those who refresh
others will themselves be refreshed.
Psalm 37:21 nlt
The wicked borrow and never repay, but the
godly are generous givers.
2 Corinthians 9:7 nlt
You must each decide in your heart how much
to give. And don't give reluctantly or in response to pressure. "For God
loves a person who gives cheerfully."
Do you get it? God is tearing my heart apart, and I
am excited about. Yes, that is what I said. Being generous is not a
burden. It is a blessing and a call from God on our lives...
Isaiah 58:10 nlt
Feed the hungry, and help those in trouble.
Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the darkness around you
will be as bright as noon.
