“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be
satisfied.
The things in this life that satisfy us are as different
as we are. In fact, if we are honest,
the things that used to satisfy us most likely don’t give us the pleasure that
they used to. The older I get the less material
things mean and the more people matter!
Let’s dive in to the heart of God. He knows our hearts very well.
Romans
8:27 NASB
and
He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the
Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the
will of God.
If we really wanted to know the mind of God, we would
seek Him. He knows our hearts and our
minds. God will impact more of our minds
and hearts the more we allow Him to fill us and speak to us.
Jesus was different.
We know that. Notice in the
verses we read how Jesus and the disciples were on a different wavelength
physically and spiritually. What can we
learn from Jesus?
John 4:14 NASB
but whoever drinks of the water that I
will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I
will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life."
That was shared between Jesus and a woman whom he met at
a well. It was something of a common
day, but this conversation was far outside the norm for those in this
culture. This woman was a Samaritan. That means in Jesus’ day that a man didn’t speak
to a woman in public and a Jewish person didn’t interaction with a Samaritan.
She came to the well that day to get water. She left her water pot at the well having received
something else from Jesus.
Jesus gave her meaning and significance and love and so
much more. This woman left the well and
went in to her home town tell people about Jesus encouraging them to go see the
man she met.
We could dig in more, but lets leave the story right
there. We might be satisfied by a
particular food or a certain event. But
when Jesus comes in to our lives and when we are changed, there will be plenty
of other people around us that meet Jesus and are changed!
John 6:35 NASB
Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; he who comes
to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will
never thirst.
