Yesterday we
ended our series called HUNGRY at The Community Fellowship. We have talked about how Jesus took food and
blessed people or talked about how to be satisfied in life. Even in miracles Jesus took a little and
turned it in to a lot.
One of the
things that is troubling, no only in Jesus’ time but in ours, is that people
seek the miracles or the blessings. We
would rather be entertained than to sit humbly before God. People ran back to Jesus for another miracle or
to eat again, and I believe Jesus would have us run to Him for every thing.
There was
something about being with Jesus. He
made life light up. I want us to go on a
journey for a bit with the Bread of Life, with Jesus. He is truth.
He is the truth sent from Heaven.
And
the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw
His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and
truth.
Jesus is the
word AND He is truth. As truth He
dispels lies and darkness. As truth He
writes God’s reality in our lives. Even
in the truest sense of the word, I mean Scripture, Jesus becomes bread for us,
He becomes truth that we can interact with.
Psalm 119:160 NASB
The
sum of Your word is truth, And every one of Your righteous ordinances is everlasting.
The word is
truth. This should be our measuring
stick, our method for seeing what is right and wrong, our teacher and our
guide, our map and treasure find. Jesus
is that, and Jesus is the word.
So what good
is the word? We should live off the
word. Jesus taught us that fact. He said for Himself:
Matthew 4:4 NASB
But
He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man
shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of
God.’”
As Jesus was
preparing for His death, for our salvation, He prayed for us. Here is the foundation.
John 17:17 NASB
Sanctify
them in the truth;
Your word is truth.
The word of
God sanctifies us. Interacting with the
Bible gives us truth. Do you agree? Interacting with the Word of God gives us
Jesus and truth. He is changing me. He is changing us.
