Often we don’t recognize our influence on others. This could be a powerful influence and
example of right or wrong. Some have
been led literally to death by following the crowd while other people have made
a huge difference in the world by their choices and their influence.
Jesus is a great example
of knowing how to use your power to influence others. In that room He
turned terror in to tears. He turned
sadness in to service. He turned
hopelessness in to help more than just the people in the room.
John 13:4-5 NLT
So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a
towel around his waist, and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash
the disciples' feet, drying them with the towel he had around him.
Instead of having
His feet washed, Jesus washed feet. Most people were shocked by this act
of humility, but what Jesus did was more influential than we might understand. His was not a demand for people to listen to
Him preach but to experience His serve.
It was with conviction that Jesus often said to those closest to Him
that they would do more than He did.
We can leverage our power for the others in the room! Refuse to use your power and
influence for your own benefit. Use it to love, to serve and to share
with others. Insecure people so lives will be changed. Weak leaders leverage their power for their
own gain. Secure, confident leaders use their power to influence and
build up the people they are around.
John 13:16 NLT
I tell you the truth, slaves are not greater than their
master. Nor is the messenger more important than the one who sends the message.
Find every way you
can to lead others to be a positive influence and to know Jesus. One way or
another .... influence others ... leverage your influence for the others in the
room.
