reminder from James 1


Today I simply give you a few verses from James and a few comments.  We need reminders.  So here is a reminder that ought to bring us time with the Father and perspective on some of the things going on around us.  Read on…

James 1:2-8  NLT
For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. 4 So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing. 5 If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. 6 But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind.7 Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. 8 Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do.

We are going to go through tests.  A fact of life for all of us.  If you are in school, you will have tests.  If you are breathing and living, you will have tests, struggles or adventures.  God says we must dal with them in faith.  He will see us through and make us stronger.

Step forward again.  Do you need wisdom?  I do.  Sometimes I need wisdom for the tests and struggles.

But what about when I doubt?  Refer to verses 6 and 7.  Don’t or stop doubting.  God works when faith is persistent. 

May our lives be solely set on God and not divided with the world. 

Got a test today?  Thank God He is for us, with us and has prepared us!

wash feet, sharing hope

  John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
