Jacob was the father of Joseph, the husband of
Mary. Mary gave birth to Jesus, who is called the Messiah.
Christmas is an incredible time of the year. It is filled with much of the things that
makes life so sweet. We plan for family
time, for sharing laughs, for exchanging love and even for giving back in many
different ways.
But is it really great for everyone? I have heard stories the last couple days
that hurt my heart. I have talked to
people that are battling loneliness and addiction. I have heard from others who have lost loved
ones or life has been very negative as of late.
It is these friends that remind me that we have to go out of our way to
love people. Think about it for a few
minutes.
Luke 6:32-33 NLT
If you love only those who love you, why should
you get credit for that? Even sinners love those who love them! And
if you do good only to those who do good to you, why should you get credit?
Even sinners do that much!
It is easy to love the people we like or the people
closest to us. But there are people we
know who have no one. Many of those
might be lacking hope or strength, and it is at the holidays that this sense of
hopelessness is even worse.
Do something about it.
Jesus was and is God’s gift to us, and that gift was a difficult
one. Yes, Jesus died to be our gift.
We are just a little over a week from Christmas. What will you do in the next week to help
someone else experience the real meaning of Christmas and to receive some joy
during this special season?
