this little child


Let’s step in another direction but similar.  I share a song with you today that I remember from my childhood, but it is not a normal Christmas carol or hymn.  Yet this song I hear in my head from a concert when I was very young.

Some of those phrases and thoughts stick in my mind and hit my heart.  This is Jesus.  This is the gift at Christmas and every other day. 

Matthew 1:21  NLT
And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.

Born the king of kings.  Would die for them some day.  Feed the hungry, make rich the poor and set the sinner free.  And rise up from the dead.

Those words ring through me, and that is just from the first verse.

Make much of Jesus this Christmas.  He is the king, and He as born the king that day, the first Christmas day!

inspiration from C.S. Lewis

There are many people, past and present, who get our attention by what they write or say or share.  For me C.S. Lewis is one of those.  He was a prolific writer who continues to grab the attention of thinkers from many different points of view. Lewis first grabbed my attention when I was in 5 th grader, and our teacher, Mrs. Foy, shared The Chronicles of Narnia with our class.  It was a powerful time that this dreamer opened doors to thinking like I had never lived before.  He wrote of faith, of far off places and of strong figures who found their character rooted deep in God. C.S.
