Community family news!

Dear Community family and friends!

This is a great week to be part of The Community Fellowship, and we want to make sure you know what is going on, how you can get involved and where you can make a difference. Remember our goal is the same as our vision which is to demonstrate the love of God to our communityand beyond!

This Sunday is FAITH IN ACTION day as we partner with Rich Acres Christian Church to serve in over 10 locations across Martinsville and Henry County.  It all begins at 9am at Rich Acres Church (422 Mountain View Road, Martinsville) for the kick off, short worship and Bible study before heading out to serve.  Many of you have signed up to serve in a specific project, but some of you have not signed up.  Don’t worry because there are still places for you to help.  Either contact me, Pastor Michael, or come Sunday morning to Rich Acres dressed ready to get dirty by serving.  There will be a short Bible study just before 10am at The Community before the meal packing project happens at the church.  Join in.  Make a difference!

Our MOTHER’s DAY car care clinic is just a couple weeks away.  That means we need your help on Saturday, May 12th at the church.  You can help with oil changes, the meal, the clothing ministry or much more.  This is a day when many people show up, and we need to be ready to serve.  Listen for more details.

Our YOUTH MINISTRY are still selling pizza’s and have to sell about 20 more before May 1st to make sure this fundraiser is a success.  Go to www.pizzakit.com, click products and then clock shop for kits. Use this code 347384 when you are ready to order.  I have tasted and used these products, and they are good!

The ADDICTION MINISTRY of our church continues to meet on Saturday but at a new time.  It is Saturday at 6pm.  The worship is awesome.  The message is always relevant.  Please join in.  Please pass the word!

Let me remind you as well to continue to be faithful in your giving.  Many from The Community have committed to being part of the 90 DAY GIVING CHALLENGE that goes through the end of May.  You can give online at https://tcf.ccbchurch.com/goto/giving , mail your gifts to the church or bring them by. Thank you for your faithfulness!

That is enough for now. Get involved.  Make a difference.  I love you all and look forward to seeing you all this weekend!

With GOD as my guide,

Pastor Michael Harrison

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
