We continue to lean in to a series called #gravity at The Community Fellowship. This weekend we dealt with one of the truths of God that keeps us strong and in faith and close to Him. It is grace!
There are many topics within the confines of the Bible that we don't even get close to examining well or understanding. One of those is the GRACE of God, and this Grace stands out as the one thing that we need, the one things we can reply on but in turn it is also the one thing we get wrong. Grace is one of the most important pieces of who we are and how God deals with us. It is also one of the traits that Christians ought to live by.
Sometimes we get it wrong. If we are legalistic, we treat people with judgment or by law. If we are hypocritical, we expect to get grace but expect others to live by law. Here is the truth.
Romans 3:23 NASB
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Take that as the truth it is. We fall short. No one is perfect. Here is the gift.
Romans 3:24 NASB
being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus;
Do you see the contrast? It really is a balancing act, but by the gift and goodness of God, we get grace!
What is so amazing about grace? As we get closer to God, the sweeter and more complex His grace gets. The further we are from God the more confusing His grace gets, and it even gets a little clouded.
God desires His grace to be easy to see, understand and to receive and even easy to share with others. If we asked each of us to give a definition of grace, we would come up with lots of different thoughts. Most will have wonderful facets or parts of the outcomes of grace, but few will contain the heart of God for His grace… it is… The unmerited, undeserved, unearned kindness and favor of God
Ephesians 2:8-9 NASB
For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.
