There are so many things we could talk about. With the elections coming soon we could examine character and justice. With the pain from recent storms and disasters we could talk about the things people have gone through and are climbing back from. Let’s take a look.
Yesterday I had the honor of preaching at a funeral for a friend whose son passed away. The son was in his 30’s. There are no answers and lots of pain. But what blew me away was not the message I brought. I was touched by the stories shared by families and friends. They spoke about his faith and humor, his acceptance of others and desire to serve. I was blessed.
What is it that will be said of you when you pass from this life? First of all it is vitally important to know that we are going to heaven. We made that clear at the funeral that this young man knew his faith was secure in God. Jesus literally is the only way.
John 14:6 NLT
Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.
That is truth. We proclaim this and thank God for it. Early this week we talked about the important of the Gospel. It ought to be what we share and why we are part of church and life. Last week we talked about salvation that is in non other than Jesus.
The man whose funeral we shared yesterday has lots of challenges in life, but he chose to be a positive example for others. We can do the same. In spite of difficult circumstances choose to be a blessing. When life is chaotic choose to live at peace.

Colossians 3:12-17 NLT
…you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. 13 Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. 14 Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony. 15 And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful. 16 Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives… 17 And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.
Make a difference. Live a life worth remembering and that lets others see goodness and smile. Let others see Jesus in our every day words and actions, as my dad often prays.
