tomorrow is #GivingTuesday

1 Timothy 6:18  NLT
Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always being ready to share with others.

Black Friday just happened.  I missed it by choice.

Cyber Monday is today, and I will be shopping from the comfort of my computer.

Tomorrow is #GivingTuesday as non-profit organizations and churches ask people like you and me to invest in the work they are passionate about.  The same is true for me.  I will ask straight up.  I will also remind our church family that we are expected by God to use what God has given us to bless others and to support His work.  You can give at www.thecommunityfellowship.org by clicking “give online”.

Giving Tuesday is meant to be the ASK day.  You will most likely see articles, email, mail and much more asking for your generous donation to worthy causes.  I am doing the same.

There are many different things I would like to ask you to give to, but I start with telling you something that makes me very happy and builds my passion.  God is in the business of changing lives.  Yesterday at church one of the men who has been a guest at our transitional house for homeless men shared a little of his testimony.  We have been a part of seeing Charlie’s life change drastically, and if you have invested in the work of The Community Fellowship or The Community Dream Center, you are part of that investment.  There are many more stories like that one.

Will you help our ministry?  Go to thecommunityfellowship.org or to e-devotion.com and click GIVE ONLINE to be part of our ministry.  Choose where your donation will go as follows

“general fund” … choose this to help with the day to day ministry, benevolent and operation of the church.

“vision fund” … choose this to help with the completion of our new campus.

“back 2 school” … choose this to be part of the 2019 outreach to students.

“the community dream center” … choose this to help with our transitional house, homeless or feeding ministry.

Also we are in the mission of our Christmas mission offering.  This is our once a year offering that goes to take the message of Jesus around the world.  It begins here in our community and also goes to the farthest points on the planet.  You can give to this at church or send your gift to the church (PO BOX 388, Collinsville, VA 24078).  Your gift will go completely to missions.

Thank you for choosing to be generous.  I give because it makes me feel good, but I really give because God calls us to serve others with our resources and to be faithful to His church in our giving.  May your gifts and mine make God’s kingdom grow by leaps and bounds.

Tomorrow is GIVING TUESDAY.  Will you join us?  Please give.

Proverbs 11:25  NLT
The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
