those Bible verses

Those verses. You the ones. It is the ones that people quote all the time. Sometimes they are quoted far out of context.

But let me give us some perspective.

The Bible is powerful. Do you agree?

The Bible shares things we often think about. Do you agree?

The Bible promises what we can’t do alone. Do you agree?

The Bible reminds us that God is what life is about. Do you agree?

So, back to those verses. My premise today is very simple. The Bible is used by God for His glory and our good. He is able to go beyond what we expect as well as in directions we aren’t ready for. The Bible is simply powerful.

Hebrews 4:12 NASB

For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

Isaiah 55:11 NASB

So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.

God will use the Bible no matter what. That is why we need to eat it or take in as much of the Bible that we can. Spend time in the Bible as often as possible. Memorize the Bible. There are lots of ways we can keep the Word of God close to us.

Now, on to those verses. You know the ones that we hear quoted or think about a lot. God will use these. Here are a few of them:

John 3:16 NASB

For God so loved the world, that He gave Hisonly begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

Romans 8:28 NASB

And we know thatGod causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

Psalm 23:1 NASB

The Lord is my shepherd,Ishall not want.

Philippians 4:19 NASB

And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

That is just a few of those verses, and I pray they, and others, will ring in our heads and hearts all the while doing what God alone can do!

Francis Chan's "Forgotten God" (brand new book)

One of the most powerful preachers, writers and leaders of our time, in my opinion, is Francis Chan. His first book, Crazy Love , revolutionized my thoughts about God's love as well as my interacting with God. Now it is time for a brand new book from Chan being released tomorrow, September 1st. inspiration from C.S. Lewis

There are many people, past and present, who get our attention by what they write or say or share. For me C.S. Lewis is one of those. He was a prolific writer who continues to grab the attention of thinkers from many different points of view. Lewis first grabbed my attention when I was in 5 th grader, and our teacher, Mrs. Foy, shared The Chronicles of Narnia with our class. It was a powerful time that this dreamer opened doors to thinking like I had never lived before. He wrote of faith, of far off places and of strong figures who found their character rooted deep in God. C.S. Lewis was born in 1898 and died in 1963, 7 years before I was born.
