hope and courage


Job 11:18  NLT
Having hope will give you courage. You will be protected and will rest in safety.

These two things are linked in so many ways.  Hope and courage are family members.  They are characteristics of people who care about themselves and the people around them.  They are ways that God builds His people and what is used to guides us through this adventure called life.

Hope reminds us that there is more to life than self and struggle.  Courage pressed us on.  Maybe it is not just that simply, yet that seems to make sense.

Psalm 31:24  NLT
So be strong and courageous, all you who put your hope in the Lord!

Sounds like a command to me.  Not one of those like the sign that says “don’t walk on the grass”.  But it is one of those that if you choose this thing that other thing will happen.

Choose to be strong and your hope will grow.

That is my choice today.  I will be strong in the Lord.  I will hope in the Lord.  How about you?

But Christ, as the Son, is in charge of God’s entire house. And we are God’s house, if we keep our courage and remain confident in our hope in Christ.

inspiration from C.S. Lewis

There are many people, past and present, who get our attention by what they write or say or share.  For me C.S. Lewis is one of those.  He was a prolific writer who continues to grab the attention of thinkers from many different points of view. Lewis first grabbed my attention when I was in 5 th grader, and our teacher, Mrs. Foy, shared The Chronicles of Narnia with our class.  It was a powerful time that this dreamer opened doors to thinking like I had never lived before.  He wrote of faith, of far off places and of strong figures who found their character rooted deep in God. C.S.
