John 1:1 is a verse you might be familiar with. It says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” Jesus is the Word and all things were made through Him. Without Him, there would be nothing. Meditate on that for a moment and personalize it. All things in your life come from Him, and without Him, nothing happens.
John 1:10 is a sad verse. It says, “He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him.” Jesus created the world, but the world didn’t even know He gave them life and breath. They didn’t know the One who created them. They didn’t know His Word. But, as we’ve talked about over the last few days, if we meditate on the Word of God, we get to know Him and something supernatural begins to happen. Why? Because we’re actually meditating on Jesus when we study His Word.
Colossians 1 says all things are created by Him and held together by Him. I think there are some things Jesus would like to create in your life and there are some things He would like to hold together. But here’s something we must understand. When you accept Jesus, you determine how much of His life you’re going to let flow through you. One way to determine the extent is how much time you spend in His Word. The more time you spend in His Word, the more you’ll release His life in yours, and that’s when the supernatural happens. That’s why we’ve spent 31 days meditating on the different aspects of His Word. It’s my hope that we will all let His life flow through us.
Now, let’s look at today’s verse again:
Philippians 4:8
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.
It’s a verse you might know, but I want to look at it in a different light. It says to meditate on things that are true, noble, just, pure, lovely, of good report, virtuous and praiseworthy. As we’ve been studying, it’s obvious all of these words can be used to describe God’s Word. How incredible is that?
Now that you’ve completed this devotional study of God’s Word, you have an important choice to make. Will you continue to make the Word of God a part of your daily life? Just look back on the last 31 days. How has your life changed? Are you experiencing more peace? Are you bearing more fruit? I want to encourage you to continue to dive deeper into the Word, and as you continue to read and meditate on it, the Lord will continue to prosper you in everything you do.
PRAYER
God, thank You for giving me Your Word. Help me to meditate on things that are true, noble, just, pure, lovely, of good report, virtuous and praiseworthy. Lord, please change my life and help me to be more like You. Thank You for writing Your Word upon my heart. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
