2020 has been one for the record books. I really mean the history books and wish it was history. But we still are really blessed, and now that the Christmas season is here, it is time to get some things in line.
This is a busy time of the year. Thanksgiving was last week, and Christmas is less than one month away. Then “black Friday” was last week, and yesterday was “cyber Monday” for sales. Then today is “giving Tuesday”, and the challenge is on.
Giving Tuesday is about where our heart flows. What is our passion? What do we love? For those of us who follow God, we are givers. Here is our chance. Giving Tuesday is much different than black Friday and cyber Monday. #GivingTuesday is not about buying. It is about giving, fueling the dreams and work of others.

The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.
I believe that the best way to love is to give. The best way to fuel our dreams is to serve others. It isn’t always with money. It might be giving your time or a meal or an act of service such as mowing a yard, racking leaves or shoveling snow. In giving that we find our purpose and strength to live an abundant life.
That is why I ask you to join me. Be part of “giving Tuesday” by choosing to invest in what God is doing. It is the desire of the church I lead and the work I am part of to “demonstrate the love of God” by serving those who are hungry, hurting or homeless.

There are many organizations you can give to that are very worthy of your giving. There are several that we support regularly, and it is an honor to invest in work that makes a difference. Some of those are mission work in Cuba, serving student athletes through FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes), back2school (and Samaritan’s Feet), and there are others.
If you give to The Community Fellowship, you can choose several different options (general fund, vision fund or our new campus, Dream Center or homeless ministry, mission offering…). You can also mail your gift to PO Box 388, Collinsville VA 24078 or drop off your gift at the church when we are open. Would you please give? In fact our mission offering begins this next Sunday at The Community, and you can give to that today. I ask if you are going to give today consider giving to help our church as we serve those who are struggling.
