Here we are. Easter. Friday is the day of the culmination of the efforts of people who wanted to remove Jesus from their lives. But not just that. This is the highest spot of the purpose Jesus was given to come to earth.
He is the Christ. He is the sacrifice. Without the cross there would not be a resurrection. Without the death, and life before death, there would not be life after death. You get that.
1 Corinthians 1:18 NASB
For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
The cross is the place where we fall apart. It is where everyone falls apart because it was harsh and cruel. The beatings leading up to the cross would leave the one sent to death almost at the point of death but not quite.
Jesus’ life was freely given. Who killed Jesus? That is the wrong question because Jesus actually gave His life for us. He willingly died in your place and in mine.
But the big piece of this isn’t there yet.
He is alive. Jesus isn’t in the grave. The tomb is empty. God’s plan has been accomplished through the life, death, burial and resurrection of this holy, God-sent one.
Matthew 28:6 NLT
He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen. Come, see where his body was lying.
May our lives find foundation in the truth of who Jesus is and what Jesus has done for us.
May our Easter celebration be centered all around the truth of what happened on the cross and what was completed when Jesus walked out of the tomb.
We are changed, blessed and never the same. All of that because Jesus is alive!
