dip ahead


 

You might have experienced these signs as I have from time to time as you have been out driving.  They happen close to home and far from home.  It might be a small distraction or even something you might have to slow way down to deal with.


“Dip Ahead”.


These signs are out there.  Usually they come in places where there is road construction or when a road has some kind of issue.


Much the same happens in our lives.  There are dips.  How do you deal with the dips in life?


I am referring to the times when depression or some type of low point comes up.  Most people experience these from time to time.  Some have very low dips.  Some have very few dips.  In my life I have had a lot of these.


Please don’t take this as a treatise on depression or mental instability.  What I do hope you take this post as is a warning to know the Word of God and what God says to us when the low points happen.  The dips will come, but God has some truth for us.


Psalm 40:1-2  NLT

I waited patiently for the Lord to help me, and he turned to me and heard my cry.  He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along.


Notice that these verse are a first person account of a person who has gone through a deep dip, a real struggle.  It might be depression or any sort of life’s hard situations.


God hears our prayers.  Wait on God.  He will lift you out of the dip!


Psalm 55:22  NLT

Give your burdens to the Lord, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.


Give Him your burden, your struggle, your depression, your stress, your pain, your heart ache and so much more.  He will take care of you.


I need to hear that especially when the dip arrives.  He is with me!


Philippians 4:6  NLT

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.


I have shared this verse and the ones around them many, many times.  It is time to stop worrying and to start trusting.  Especially when the low times comes stop worrying.  When you know that the dip is ahead or you just went over it, reach out to God, tell Him what you need, and watch what God does.


The dips of life don’t have to knock us off track.  Turn to God and watch Him do what He does best.

inspiration from C.S. Lewis

There are many people, past and present, who get our attention by what they write or say or share.  For me C.S. Lewis is one of those.  He was a prolific writer who continues to grab the attention of thinkers from many different points of view. Lewis first grabbed my attention when I was in 5 th grader, and our teacher, Mrs. Foy, shared The Chronicles of Narnia with our class.  It was a powerful time that this dreamer opened doors to thinking like I had never lived before.  He wrote of faith, of far off places and of strong figures who found their character rooted deep in God.
