Caring for one another is not always easy, but it is always right. The thing we often take for granted is the fact that we stay so busy and feel like things will take too much of our time. That really is not the case.
Let me remind you of something that hit me recently… it only a takes a few minutes to stop and show someone you care. Step out and do something.
Zechariah 7:9 NLT
“This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: Judge fairly, and show mercy and kindness to one another.
When you feel a tug in your heart to do something kind or to serve someone else, do it. Stop right then and do something. Waiting most likely leads to forgetting to do it.
You don’t have to have a lot of money or other resources to meet a need. It might be as easy as buying a cup of coffee, letting someone go ahead of you in line at the store or walking across the street to have a conversation. It could be that God leads you to do something that does have a cost like paying someone’s electric bill or car payment. If you have the means or the time, do something.
We can always be kind to others. Be generous with what you have. God will use you in greater ways than you realize.
If God gives you a desire to pray for someone, stop at that moment and pray for them. And if you have the opportunity to tell them you prayed for them, do it.
Stop being selfish. Stop wasting your time and energy on things that matter little. People matter. Our serving and caring might be the very thing that leads a person to know that they are loved and they have value. Do something kind!
During my time away starting Monday I will be looking for opportunities to be extra kind to others. I will be stopping to pray for the person that serves us. I will be watching to see how I can serve those closest to me, like my wife and children. It is important that we use the blessings we have to serve others.
Choose to make a difference. It doesn’t matter whether you are busy or not. It matters that you can make a difference! Just do something.
1 John 3:17 NLT
If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion—how can God’s love be in that person?
1 Peter 4:10 NLT
God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.
