back2school hope

The stories that go along with the back2school project seem to have no end. I am talking about the students who are so cool. Some just grab your heart when you serve them. Then there are families or students going through a crisis. Even more when you learn that a kid you served steps up, does well or has turned a hopeless tough situation in to a win and success.

We help students win when we help them. It has a lot more to it than new shoes and socks, backpacks and school supplies. It is about the hope that we share. Literally we are giving out hope. We are …

Hope and so much more.

I challenge you, and each of our team members, to give away the hope that God has given you. Your experience has built your hope. Now help others know and have hope.

And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.

Share hope because with hope comes courage and protection.

God is our hope, and students learn from what they see lived out in front of them.

Real hope leads to smiles and not depression, joy and not disappointment, life and not death.

One of the most powerful preachers, writers and leaders of our time, in my opinion, is Francis Chan. inspiration from C.S. Lewis

There are many people, past and present, who get our attention by what they write or say or share. For me C.S. Lewis is one of those. He was a prolific writer who continues to grab the attention of thinkers from many different points of view. Lewis first grabbed my attention when I was in 5 th grader, and our teacher, Mrs. Foy, shared The Chronicles of Narnia with our class. It was a powerful time that this dreamer opened doors to thinking like I had never lived before. He wrote of faith, of far off places and of strong figures who found their character rooted deep in God. C.S. Lewis was born in 1898 and died in 1963, 7 years before I was born.
