Day Three. It is that time. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving. Football. Turkey and dressing. Family and more. I believe this holiday is one that will remind us that everything in our lives really comes from God. The natural outcome of staying connected or reconnecting to God is gratitude or giving thanks.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 NASB
in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.
Monday we talked about our faith. Tuesday we talked about blessings and how our faith shows us that we are blessed. Today I want to focus on freedom. God has blessed us by giving us great freedom.
What is freedom? Let me give a few different aspects of freedom.
One of those would be the freedom that Jesus experienced after the cross, after the tomb and when the Father said get up. It is called resurrection. Jesus experienced freedom when He rose from the grave, and God offers us that same resurrection freedom when we receive His life and new life.
Freedom comes to us when we choose to live for and with God. Faith and freedom are connected because we can live differently when there is no shame or guilt. Living forgiven is freedom.
Another way we experience freedom is by believing that there is more to this life than day in and day out monotony. God offers us abundant life. When we life in that abundance, there is less worry and anxiety. That is living in freedom.
Psalm 119:45 NLT
I will walk in freedom, for I have devoted myself to your commandments.
Walk in freedom.
Romans 6:14 NLT
Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God’s grace.
Grace is what took care of our sin and opened up possibilities or gave us freedom.
2 Corinthians 3:17 NLT
For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
Where God, there is freedom. God is with us. God is with you. Live in freedom.
May this Thanksgiving bring you hope and new life as you live out your faith knowing you are blessed and able to live in freedom!
