reflect on Easter

He is so much more than Easter.  That is why we focus on Him as risen.  Think about the things you have learned about Jesus.  How has He influenced your reality and your life?  He is…

King of Kings and Lord of Lords, The almighty, Alpha and Omega, The Amen, Bread from Heaven and the bread of Life, Our Shepherd , Christ, Deliverer, Immanuel, Faithful witness and friend, Gate, God and good, Holy and Righteous One, the I am, King of the Jews, Lamb of God, Light of the World, Lord of all, King of Glory, Master, Mediator and Messiah, Passover lamb, Prince of Peace, Savior, son of Man, son of God, Way, truth and the life, Word, the door and so much more.  He is… Resurrection and the life!

That is why we find ourselves in the greatest of places thinking about the empty tomb.  It is the close of Holy Week and a lot happened in just seven days.  From being praised as king to be crucified as a criminal.  Jesus is either a liar, a lunatic or He is Lord.  The choice is ours.  What do we build our lives on?  What authority?  What truth?  What strength will we be trusting in?

Jesus said, “Tetelesti” or “it is finished” meaning it is complete.  Our savior completed the work that His Father gave Him to do.  It was a willing act to give Himself for you and for me.  That first Easter transformed our lives.

John 19:30  NLT

Therefore when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And He bowed His head and gave up His spirit.

He gave up His spirit, willingly gave Himself.  It was not taken from Him, and because He gave His life willing victory is ours.  He was not victim but victor.  His life was not demanded from Him, but He demonstrated His love for us all.  It is our time to claim victory

“Our old history ends with the cross; our new history begins with our resurrection.” — WATCHMAN NEE

Jesus exchanged His life for ours.  That is the reality of Easter.  Take some time this week to remember last week and live in the freedom that Jesus gave.

Galatians 2:20  NASB

I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.

But don’t miss this important fact: to live you first have to die.  To get to Sunday you have to go through Friday.  Without His death we would not have new life!

Romans 6:10  NLT

When he died, he died once to break the power of sin. But now that he lives, he lives for the glory of God.

NOTE:  I will be making a trip to Cuba to support the FCA leaders there.  We need donations of medicines and hygiene products as well as money to assist with the trip.  Let me know if you would like to help.

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
