heart and wallet


I continue to take a look back at e-devotions while I am away.  We will turn back time, and in these e-devotions I will pass on to you some that still speak to me.  Read and share with others.  Pray for the continued impact of God’s truth on our lives.


Thank you for allowing me to take some time off and still share with you these e-devotions as we turn back in time…

Jeremiah 29:13 NLT

If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.

 

Your heart is tied too much more than just what you feel.  It is tied to what you do and even who you are.  In fact your wallet and your heart are inseparable.  Think about it.  Better yet, go look at your checkbook and what you have spent money on as of late.

 

What you care about is what gets your time, your money and your energy.  Now check your calendar because it shows your heart as well. 

 

Someone reminded me of the old line "the road to Hell is paved with good intentions", and all of us know that is true.  We are judged by others not by what we think or our motives but by our actions.  Praise God that He looks at and knows our heart.

 

I ask you to take a few minutes and see how close you believe that your wallet and your heart are tied today.  Give yourself some kind of test.  Write down the things you really care about.  Chose a few things that stand out in your mind.  Now go look at your calendar and your wallet.  Did the things you say you care about get the best parts of you?

 

My prayer is that God will get my heart and not half my heart.  My prayer is that God will use what I have to help more and more people. My prayer is that my family will know that they are first in my life.  Saying that is true is one thing.  Living it is another.

 

Check your heart!  May God use us to impact lots of people as we live the truth and use what we have to show our love to God, our families and to what we are passionate about!

inspiration from C.S. Lewis

There are many people, past and present, who get our attention by what they write or say or share.  For me C.S. Lewis is one of those.  He was a prolific writer who continues to grab the attention of thinkers from many different points of view. Lewis first grabbed my attention when I was in 5 th grader, and our teacher, Mrs. Foy, shared The Chronicles of Narnia with our class.  It was a powerful time that this dreamer opened doors to thinking like I had never lived before.  He wrote of faith, of far off places and of strong figures who found their character rooted deep in God. C.S.
