there is more to come

There is more to come

That is a phrase that I have come to love and share often the last few months.  It is vital that all of us know who our God is.  There really is more to come.  But it dependent on who we listen to and how we live our lives.

Answer this … who do you listen to and who do you follow?  Is it about our work and us?  Or is it dependent on our God and leaning on Him?

I assert and fully believe that it is completely dependent on God, His work and will.  Just like our church’s theme for the year of HE>i we will find the more when we are committed to life being more about Him and less about you or me.

John 3:30  NLT

He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less.

That is the key.  That is also why God prepares all victory.  God prepares our victory and us for victory.

Yet the problem is often our thinking.  Our thinking is influenced by who influences us.  Again, Who do we listen to?  The enemy … our warped thinking … our past failures … our incredible God.  Answer this.  Who are you listening to the most?

God desires more for each and every one of us.  There is more to come!  It is time to claim it in Jesus’ name.

Proverbs 18:10  NIV

The name of the LORD is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.

Victory is directly tied to our running to God, believing God and totally leaning on God.

2 Corinthians 10:3-6  NASB

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not wage battle according to the flesh, 4 for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. 5 We are destroying arguments and all arrogance raised against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ, 6 and we are ready to punish all disobedience, whenever your obedience is complete.

Walk by His way.  Obey His word.  See the wonders that come from spending time with God.  Then you will experience more victory than you ever have before.

Proverbs 16:9  NLT

We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.

Confess this, you have plans.  Are you plans different from the plans that God has for you?  If the answer is yes, then victory will not be in your future or the victories will be small and short lived.

Believe you have the victory God offers.  Live like you have the victory.  Stay close to Jesus  Why?

Romans 8:37  NLT

No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.

He is the purpose and the glory of our lives, and that is why our God provides more victory

1 Corinthians 15:57  NLT

But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.

More victory is your promise and mine from God.  There is more to come!

This message is part of the sermon I shared with our church this past Sunday morning.

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
