pray because God is good

In keeping with our last conversation of praying the Psalms, I share this…

Psalms 8:1-2  NLT

O Lord, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth!  Your glory is higher than the heavens. 2  You have taught children and infants to tell of your strength, silencing your enemies and all who oppose you.

Do you ever get just a little choked up when you see God do something?

Do you ever just think WOW when you see something God created?

Tell Him.  Let God know what you think, how you feel, where your mind is, and that you are in awe of Him.  Those “awe moments” are the ones that print a memory in our minds and even on our hearts.  Cherish those moments almost like a picture taken that you keep going back to for years.

God is able.  God is good.  God is creator and keeper of all.  God is love, and we expect Him to respond in love, to give because of His love and to care for those we care about because of His goodness.

That is a lot about His character.  There is a lot about His character that will add to our prayers and our seeking His face.

The verses above, and many others remind us of His character.  Praise Him for who He is.  Also praise Him for how our lives change because of of who He is.  You know, our faith is strengthened and comes alive.  How is that?  Pray that to as a prayers of thanks, renewal and even a reminder to us.

Use this in your prayers today …

Psalm 112  NLT

Praise the Lord! How joyful are those who fear the Lord  and delight in obeying his commands.

2  Their children will be successful everywhere; an entire generation of godly people will be blessed…

4 Light shines in the darkness for the godly. They are generous, compassionate, and righteous…

7 They do not fear bad news; they confidently trust the Lord to care for them.

8 They are confident and fearless and can face their foes triumphantly.

9  They share freely and give generously to those in need. Their good deeds will be remembered forever. They will have influence and honor…

That is about who we are and how we face life.  I am so grateful that rightly placed faith leads me to live in confidence as I trust God.

God, you are amazing.  Your glory fills the sky and the world, but your glory also fills my heart and my mind.  I choose to lift you, praise you and to tell others about you.  Strengthen my faith.  May my family confidently walk out this day and not live in fear.  You about the giver, and I want to be a giver as well  Thank you for the example and truth.  Today, I will live my faith out loud because I trust you are able, good, kind and loving.  This I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen!

Finally, please pray for the trip to Cuba next week and the retreat I will help to host May 5-7 for the FCA sports ministry staff in Cuba.  Thank you!  God is good!

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
