pray for new school year


Let’s pray for students, teachers schools, and school staff as our local schools start this week.  Take some time to think through those that you know … children returning to school, teachers who have lots to do, families changing routines, various people who help students … pray for each!  


Sunday we had a special prayer time for each of those.  God has blessed us and is preparing our children for an awesome and strong future.

 

Matthew 19:13  NASB

Then some children were brought to Him so that He would lay His hands on them and pray; and the disciples rebuked them.

 

Be a blessing.  One way to do that is to pray!


God has given each of us desire and ability to do just that, to be a blessing, and a great place to start and be strong is in prayer. 

 

Pray for students and this new school year.  It is full of challenges, opportunities and so much more.  Pray for school workers, elementary, middle and high school as well as colleges, are tasked with helping each student find success, and there are many who believe they are going to fail.  


Pray for teachers, encouraging and sharing with each, that success may look different for each student, but success is possible and important.  My wife is one of those, and I have see her doing so much to make a difference.  I am so proud of her… and praying for them all.

 

Here are a few things I am praying for …

 

Our kids to have the mind of Christ!  Smart and ready to excel.

 

Each one free from fear because God given them confidence.

 

There are challenges, but each student and teacher can do new and hard things!

 

I am committed to pray for our schools, school workers and students.  Will you join me this week praying for the new school year?

wash feet, sharing hope

  John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
