Hearing is a big deal. There are many things going on in our lives that help us connect to what is going on around us. Seeing is another. Touch is another. Smell yet another. But I focus on what we hear in this e-devotion.
Maybe the question is better like this: who are you listening to?
If you cannot hear, you cannot listen. If you are listening, you have chosen not to hear. You might block out things with ear phones or some noise. You might even have some sickness that is keeping you from hearing. What we know is that hearing is important.
Think about who you are listening to and what you are listening to. Those things are influencing your influence, shaping your character, changing your mind, either tearing apart or shoring up your foundation.
Deuteronomy 6:4 NLT
Listen, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord alone
Exodus 19:9 NLT
Then the Lord said to Moses, “I will come to you in a thick cloud, Moses, so the people themselves can hear me when I speak with you. Then they will always trust you.” Moses told the Lord what the people had said.
Hebrews 4:7 NLT
So God set another time for entering his rest, and that time is today. God announced this through David much later in the words already quoted: “Today when you hear his voice, don’t harden your hearts.”
Hear God. Choose to hear His voice and follow what He says. One of the greatest things we can do is not close our ears or hearts to hear what God has to say.
Revelation 1:3 NLT
God blesses the one who reads the words of this prophecy to the church, and he blesses all who listen to its message and obey what it says, for the time is near.
Listen and only. Sounds like a good plan. Listen to God.
James 1:22 NLT
But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.
The best part is the follow through. Hear God. Listen to what He says. Then respond and watch God bless.
