thank you for the Cuba trip support

I got back late Friday night from Cuba.  It was a wonderful trip full of adventure as well as seeing what God is doing with the sports ministry in Cuba.  Looking back it really is amazing and I am grateful for all the people who make this ministry and these trips possible.

1 Thessalonians 1:2  NLT

We always thank God for all of you and pray for you constantly.

There are several people who give and help for each and every trip I take, and I want to say a huge THANK YOU.  Without these friends and faithful believers this would not be possible.  Furthermore, people would not hear the Gospel or have an opportunity to see the hand of God in and on their lives.

Then there are the people and workers in Cuba who day in and out are making this ministry a priority and possible.  Thank you to the staff across the country, the families of each FCA staff member and all the supports across Cuba that love Jesus and know that He is the truth.

Colossians 4:5  NLT

Live wisely among those who are not believers, and make the most of every opportunity.

There are opportunities all over the place.  We can share Jesus and be part of ministry in so many places, and God calls us to do just that.  Watch to see where He is working and join Him.  That is what we must do.

It was almost 5 years ago that I sat across the table from Alex in Havana, at a place called Lateral.  Hard to believe these 11 trips and all the ministry has happened all because of what was shared that day.  There was a need, and God spoke to my heart.

I am grateful and say again THANK YOU to all who make these possible.  Thank you to my wife and family who are supportive and so kind.  Thank you to our church, The Community Fellowship, that allows me to be away and supports so faithfully.  THANK YOU to the team who live across the US and go out of their way to support this work. And there are more.  Many who make this trip so much stronger.  I am grateful!

This week I will share some insight about Christmas, which is one week away, and take aways from this trip to Cuba.  I pray they will encourage you.  I also pray that these will help you join me in being on mission with this special work God has brought to our attention.

God is good, and there is more to do!

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
