We have all learned in life that there are some things that we do that make us better and stronger. In this Friday e-devotion I share just a few that I have found to make me stronger, that give me wisdom and that put life in to perspective.
I am not saying that I do these well. I am saying that I have found these things to be helpful. Here are some routines that will help us win.
Pressing Pause
Psalm 46:10 NLT
“Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.”
Exodus 31:13 NLT
“Tell the people of Israel: ‘Be careful to keep my Sabbath day, for the Sabbath is a sign of the covenant between me and you from generation to generation. It is given so you may know that I am the Lord, who makes you holy.
Times to be quiet and reflect can add so much to our lives. Life is busy and hectic and even at times overwhelming. Getting quiet may be one of the best ways to turn off the things that are keeping you where you shouldn’t be.
Time with People
Hebrews 10:25 NLT
And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.
Romans 12:10 NLT
Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other.
We were made for relationships and not to be alone. Some people frustrate us. Some people take from us. But some people make us better. Build those relationships. Too often being alone and avoiding people keeps us where we shouldn’t be.
One on one with God
John 15:5 NLT
“Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.
Jeremiah 29:12-13 NLT
In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.
Nothing takes the place of good time with God. These minutes or hours will make a difference in your life, in your thinking and even in your living. Time with God will move you to the places you should be in and the people you should be with.
This is not intended to be an exhaustive list. Simply these are things that have become a priority in my life, some more than others. But these keep me clear and even make life better.
May God use you and me this weekend to encourage others because we have chosen routines that make us better.
