Hebrews 12:1-2  NLT 

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. 2 We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.

 

Be encouraged.  You are not alone.

 

Not only is God with us but others are with us.  So many have been through what we are going through.  Like a huge stadium (see verse 1 above) many are cheering us on.

 

Be encouraged.  Throw away what slows you down and tripps you up.  Some times it is sin.  Deal with it.  Ask forgiveness and move on.  Some times it is other things like toxic relationships or bad habits.  Again deal with it and move on.

 

Be encouraged.  Keep your eyes and life pointed to Jesus.  He is the one that did for us what no one else could do.  


Let your joy and satisfaction be based on Jesus.  Nothing else.

 

Be encouraged.  You are not alone.  Get rid of what holds you back.  Keep following Jesus!

inspiration from C.S. Lewis

There are many people, past and present, who get our attention by what they write or say or share.  For me C.S. Lewis is one of those.  He was a prolific writer who continues to grab the attention of thinkers from many different points of view. Lewis first grabbed my attention when I was in 5 th grader, and our teacher, Mrs. Foy, shared The Chronicles of Narnia with our class.  It was a powerful time that this dreamer opened doors to thinking like I had never lived before.  He wrote of faith, of far off places and of strong figures who found their character rooted deep in God. C.S. Lewis was born in 1898 and died in 1963, 7 years before I was born.  It wasn’t until his 30’s that under the influence of his friend Tolkien that he came to be a Christian.  He was raised in a traditional church going home, turned away from God as an Atheist in his teen years and through trying to stay away from God and faith returned to God with...
