creativity and passion :: Thursday E-Devotion

Galatians 6:1 (The Message) Live creatively, friends...

I noted that verse in my last blog post and have been thinking much about my passion for life the last month for so.  What am I passionate about?  Who do I really love?

Then I read articles or catch TV shows and then dive into the Bible, and what does God says?  He talks about real passion.  By the way, real passion is really creative.

God has me by the heart this morning.  Then, I read this: Do you truly want to make a difference in this world? Do you want generations to be different because you knew Christ? Do you want to lead a church that will impact your city, state, and the world? Do you want your preaching to awaken dormant spirits, stir complacent hearts, convict wayward sinners?

Thanks!  God and Craig Groeschel (from his blog post this morning).

Our passion is directly related to what we are putting in to our lives.  Time with God equals passion for and passion from God.  Time with the world equals an absence of the God kind of passion.  Do you agree?

Psalm 69:9 (nlt) --- Passion for your house has consumed me...

Philippians 2:13 (nlt) --- For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.

1 Peter 4:2 (nlt) --- You won't spend the rest of your lives chasing your own desires, but you will be anxious to do the will of God.

Will you go with me today to re-think about what what we do and why we do it?  What are you passionate about?  What am I passionate about?  Where am I most creative and why?  By the way, passion and creativity are directly linked to where we spend our time and what we pour ourselves into.  I revisit this inspiring verse...

1 Corinthians 9:22 (nlt) --- When I am with those who are weak, I share their weakness, for I want to bring the weak to Christ. Yes, I try to find common ground with everyone, doing everything I can to save some.

My prayer (and maybe how you can pray for me): God give me more passion for you and more passion for my family and take away the things that keep me from being creative.  Thank you in Jesus' name...Amen.

My ticket to the Catalyst Conference, in Atlanta Oct 8-10, just arrived. I'm excited!

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
