  Micah 6:8  NLT No, O people, the Lord has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God. That verse came alive for me in 2000 when I was preparing a message for a pre-game, Friday night high school football game in rural Georgia.  It was one of those times that I remember so very well. Maybe God was just speaking to me. Most likely God was doing more in that moment and in my life than I really know.  I remember almost nothing else about that week, about that night and about the outcome of the message.  What I do remember was that God spoke volumes to me through that verse. Take a few minutes to read it again.  Maybe even memorize that verse. God doesn’t hide things from us because he is a cruel God.  He opens our eyes and our hearts as we choose to go after Him.  That is when we realize that God has been and is pursuing us.  That never stops.   Thanksgiving is a great time for people to hear about and meet Jesus. John 12:42-43 NLT Many people did believe in him, however, including some of the Jewish leaders.  But they wouldn’t admit it for fear that the Pharisees would expel them from the synagogue.  For they loved human praise more than the praise of God. The problem is some people are afraid of what others will think if they follow Jesus.  Are we more afraid of our reputation or of going to hell?  Would we rather make people like us or be pleasing to God? Being thankful is a way of praising God.  Praising God is a way of pointing people to Jesus.  It our job, as is the series I am sharing with our church this month, to literally make Jesus known to the world around us.   It was more than 25 years ago when someone suggested to me to make Proverbs a part of my every day life.  This is something I have shared many times here in the e-devotion and from the pulpit and with countless people.  It is important that we take in the word of God each and every day. Proverbs has 31 chapters and most months have 31 days.  That means reading one chapter per day is a great addition for any of us that make that choice. I have experienced this truth.  Many have become examples of how God’s truth impacts their lives in this way.  It is awesome.  Really.  This is one of those things that I say loud and proud, “test God.”  His word changes us.  It changes everything. Hello Community family and friends. This Saturday at 11am we will be hosting a memorial service for Aliet Silot.  Aliet lived with Cindy and John DeOms from our church for some time.  Please be praying for Cindy and John as well as for Sam, Cindy's son, and Hunter, a close friend. Aliet was a sweet young man who was loved by many in and around our church as well as at Basset HS where he attended.  At 23 his life was cut short so early, but it was evident by this young man's life while he was with us that he loved others and understood faith.  He enjoyed helping out at church, especially in serving our children.   Today is voting day, election day, in the USA.  We have a great privilege to live in this land.  Yes, things may be hard and troubled, but we have so many blessings that others around the world don't.  If you haven't voted yet, step up and exercise your right and responsibility to do so.  I am praying for our nation and leaders today.  Join me. Why vote?  Be a good citizen.  Honor God and the standards He calls us to hold.  Make a difference. Where should we focus?  These are tough times, but all around us are all kinds of blessings.  What we choose to focus on changes everything for us and others.  Choose to be negative and you will lead others to be negative.  Be position and see how others begin to see the light or dream big.   People amaze me.  In the past several days I have had the opportunity and honor to interact with many different people.  Some of them I have known for a long time but a few are new friends.   Watch to see who God brings you way to see what God is doing.  That really is a quote or sentiment that was shared by Henry Blackaby in his book Experiencing God.   This truth has found it’s way in to my life many times through the last 3 decades.   Through the multiple conversations I heard the voice of God.  My heart moved through these conversations.  One was a dear lady going through a painful time with her family.  Another was simple conversation re-connecting with an old friend that I always enjoy being around.  Another was a young guy that I enjoy being connected to and watching his family grow.  This guy makes me smile a lot.  Even another conversation was with a person I have known for a year or little more, but this conver...
