speak up and serve

It is the end of a very full week as we have been able to serve some special people.  Really, we have once again seen in vivid color what God has called The Community Fellowship to be about. Proverbs 31:8-9  NLT Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; ensure justice for those being crushed. Yes, speak up for the poor and helpless, and see that they get justice. Much of this week we have been able to help friends who speak Spanish. For several years we have had 2 Spanish churches meeting in our building.  Recently one of them relocated, but we are still part of their church as we are the one that meets in our building.  I pray weekly that Pastor Miguel Galdamez and Pastor Reinel Castanenda are able to go deeper to share Christ and meet needs while seeing lives change.  It was a blessing this week for our building to be used for many Spanish speaking people to be served. Earlier this week and in recent days we have served the 30 plus residents of an apartmen

generosity principle

This devotion is from Evangelist Greg Laurie and deeply spoke to me as I pray it will encourage you to live generously… Proverbs 11:25 The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.  An infamous pirate named Juan Carlos was known for his theft and was rumored to have buried treasure hidden somewhere. A man approached Juan Carlos one day in Mexico, pushed him to the ground, and said, "Tell me where all your money is buried, or I will kill you right here on the spot!" Juan Carlos didn't speak a word of English and needed an interpreter, so he saw a boy nearby and called him over. The boy relayed the man's message to Juan Carlos, and fearing for his life, Juan Carlos said to the boy, "Tell this man I don't want to die. Tell him the money is located 30 paces north of the city water tower, under a large rock." The boy turned to the man and replied, "Juan Carlos says he is an honorable man and that

strength in the middle of pain

Emotions are high. Looking around us and throughout the world there are so many things going that impact our lives.  Seriously. They might not impact our house or the weather around our house, but they impact our emotions, sway our thinking and even make us stop and think. There are a few topics that continue to run through my thinking, and what I know and continue to share is that God will meet our needs.  He may use one of many different ways to do it. I choose to trust Him.  What I need to do is encourage those who are following God to be faithful. Be faithful in your time with God, daily.  Be faithful to the people God has put in your sphere of influence, all of them.  Be faithful with the resources you have been given, be generous and support your church. I will share more later this week or next on this topic. Turn to another side.  This past Sunday night I read of a pastor that took his own life.  30 year old father of 3 that struggled with deep depression.

give joy

Psalm 20:5  NLT May we shout for   joy   when we hear of your victory and raise a victory banner in the name of our God. May the   Lord   answer all your prayers. Psalm 28:7 NLT The   Lord   is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with   joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving. Psalm 32:2 NLT Yes, what   joy   for those whose record the   Lord has cleared of guilt, whose lives are lived in complete honesty! Psalm 119:1 NLT Joy ful are people of integrity, who follow the instructions of the   Lord . Psalm 126:3 NLT Yes, the   Lord   has done amazing things for us! What   joy! Nehemiah 8:10 NIV Nehemiah said, “Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the   joy   of the   Lord is your   strength.” Just thought you would need a little JOY today.  So, I brought it to you.   Have you ever thoug

claiming God's promises

As the week begins claim some of the promises that the Bible gives us about our great and gracious God.  Read on.  Take in what hits home with you… Psalm 27:1 NASB The   Lord   is my   light   and my   salvation; Whom shall I fear? The   Lord   is the defense of my life; Whom shall I dread? Daniel 10:19 NASB He said, “O man of high esteem, do not be afraid. Peace be with you; take courage and be courageous!” Now as soon as he spoke to me, I received   strength   and said, “May   my lord speak, for you have   strengthened me.” Acts 3:19 NASB The refore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times   of refreshing may come from   the   presence   of the   Lord; Deuteronomy 31:6   NIV Be strong and courageous.   Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the   Lord   your God goes with you;   he will never leave you   nor forsake   you. All of these are from the message that I shared with our church family yesterday at

a day in the life

A day in the life, in my life.  I am not famous, but I do lead a rather fast passed life based on my desire to serve others.  Thus, I thought I would share some of the interactions from a day in my life. Hebrews 10:25 NLT And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but   encourage   one   another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near. The day started with taking my favorite son to school.  It is a normal thing and praying with him is an important part of the start of our day. I ran in to two of the great servants and handy men that I know. Kasim and Frankie spend lots of time, along with a few others, working on our new campus.  They crack me up and they pick on me.  I am OK with that.  Enjoyed a few minutes watching them tile a bathroom and hear their bantering. A bit later I headed to an undisclosed location about 50 miles south of our town and met with a lady that oversees the production of a large company that supports
